Registration is required.  Call 717-964-3808 to register no later than 24 hours before an event or e-mail the park at governordick@hotmail.com and leave your name and phone number.  All programs are free unless stated otherwise, payment for programs can be made the day of the program.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​


The Environmental Center is open Wednesday through Saturday 8:00 a.m. to
​4:00 p.m. and Sunday 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.

February


Children's Event

Sat. Feb. 28th 10 a.m.

This month's activity is a winter scavenger hunt, limited spots available!


Golden Eagle Hike

Sun. Feb. 22nd 1:30 p.m.
A slower paced 2-3 mile beginner hike. In order to accommodate beginner hikers we will hike at the pace of the slowest hiker. All hikers are welcome to take part in this hike with the understanding that the pace may be slower than you prefer if you are more advanced.
Pace: 2.0 to 3.0 mph depending on participants

Distance: 2 to 3 miles depending on weather and hiker abilities
Estimated Time: Around 2 hours

Terrain: Smooth and rocky surfaces, modest climbs 


March


Fitness Hike

Sun. March 8th 10 a.m.

An intermediate paced 5-6 mile hike. We will get a moderate workout while touring much of the Governor Dick Park and doing a few climbs.
Pace: 3.0 mph while hiking with minimal rests and a brief snack break at the midpoint.

Distance: 5 to 6 miles depending on weather and hiker abilities
Estimated Time: Around 3 hours

Terrain: Smooth and rocky surfaces, several 200'-300' climbs

First day of Spring Hike

Fri. March 20th 10 a.m.

A hike to celebrate the first day of spring!

Pace: 2.5 mph while hiking with minimal rests and a brief snack break at the midpoint.
Distance: 4 to 5 miles
Estimated Time: Around 3 hours
Terrain: Smooth and rocky surfaces, modest climbs 


Wildflowers Part 1

Sat. March 28th 12 p.m.

We will admire and learn about the currently blooming spring ephemerals, come back for part 2 next month for a different selection of flowers!

Pond Scoop

Sat. April 4th 12 p.m.

Frog eggs, tadpoles, and snails oh my! Grab your buckets, we are going to investigate the frog pond. Bring any supplies you like (magnifying glasses, jars, nets etc.) We will meet at the monument rock parking lot.

Have you ever wandered through the forest and wondered what you can eat? Come find out! We will learn about edible plants (not mushrooms) in the forest.

The Board of Directors of the Clarence Schock Memorial Park at Governor Dick will meet on the below listed dates.  Meetings are open to the public and are held at the Governor Dick Environmental Center, 3283 Pinch Road, Mt. Gretna, PA.  Meetings begin at 7:15 p.m.

If State or Federal COVID 19 meeting restrictions are in place or there is inclement weather on the date of a meeting, the meeting will be held in virtual format utilizing ZOOM, tele-conferencing or other social media platforms. Members of the public desiring access to virtual meetings should email: Governordick@hotmail.com for a connection link.
